Trascar introduces and implements the evolution of Goods to Person

Trascar SpA, a leading Company in the automation sector, just a few months after signing a partnership with OPEX® Corporation, which positions it as a key player in the distribution and integration of the American multinational’s technologies, has already secured its first contract with a major Italian company in the Pharmaceutical sector. Trascar will install Italy’s first Trascar Perfect Pick High Density solution powered by OPEX® Corporation for Goods to Person order preparation in both retail and e-commerce.

Trascar Perfect Pick is the automated Goods to Person system by Trascar, which, thanks to the use of wireless shuttles for managing plastic boxes, trays, and individual packages, is the fastest in the shuttle, miniload, and cubic storage segments. The core of the system is based on a single automated component, the iBOT shuttle, designed to operate with high performance and maximum reliability. Powered by next-generation ultracapacitors, the iBOTs quickly acquire regenerated energy during their movement throughout the warehouse, making them reliable and exceptionally energy-efficient, and suitable to meet the standards of Industry 5.0.

A custom-designed project

The system, custom-designed for the leading Italian company in the Pharmaceutical sector, will consist of a Perfect Pick aisle equipped with 12 iBOTs serving 3 multifunction and multi-order picking bays. Each picking bay will have the capability to prepare up to six orders simultaneously and manage a dedicated line for auto-shippable items.

Thanks to the integration of Trascar’s proprietary technologies for managing the picking bays, the solution will be completed by a conveyor system that ensures comprehensive refilling management from the workstations to the carton formers, thereby providing full support to the operators.

Once the orders are processed and completed, an overhead conveyor line will deliver the packages directly to the delivery area. The system has been designed to eliminate ground clutter and maximize available space, promoting operational fluidity and a safe environment for the operators.

Simplicity, precision, and high density

The solution proposed by Trascar will manage over 1000 references, storing and handling 2800 boxes of size 740x470xH320, with performance rates calculated up to 600 lines per hour (per single-referenced bin).

The new Trascar Perfect Pick solution certainly is, in its simplicity, an extremely innovative and high-performing system. It stands out significantly compared to the more commonly used Goods to Person technologies on the market, as it does not exhibit the usual bottlenecks found near elevators and ensures high performance and intensive storage.

“The final price is certainly attractive compared to traditional multishuttle systems, and the calculated return on investment is significantly lower. With these advantages, the client immediately recognized an opportunity worth considering carefully. Following a data analysis and our proposal, we further engaged the client’s interest in our offer and decided to proceed with a visit to the United States for an on-site inspection at the production facilities and an active client site to showcase the technology in action. The client was thrilled with the project and decided shortly thereafter to commission us for the work” – Stated Luca Verucchi.

Trascar sees in this initial contract all the enthusiasm from the market towards the new proposed solution, which offers nearly infinite integration possibilities with the company’s proprietary systems based in Modena, capable of meeting all scalability and performance needs of the sector.

“We have just begun to introduce our new solution and are already experiencing strong market interest. I firmly believe that we are pioneering a new technology capable of revolutionizing the Goods to Person system, especially in the retail and e-commerce sectors”.

Concluded Luca Verucchi, Sales Manager at Trascar SpA.
